Blood Drive

** UPDATE **

It was good to see so many people out at the Blood Center.  There were many members of neighboring police departments, fire departments, and of course the New Orleans Police Department.  What was most heartening about my trip to the Blood Center was seeing a large, diverse group of citizens from the community standing in line waiting to donate.  The Blood Center staff was busy, but very friendly and helpful.  It didn’t hurt a bit.  There is still time to go down and donate.  My daughter will be jealous of my band-aid.

Blood drive for the two injured officers on Friday, March 2nd (tomorrow) from 8 am until 5 pm. The bloodmobile will be located at The Blood Center’s headquarters-2609 Canal St. There is parking in the rear of our building (Iberville St.) and also at the Rite Aid next door (corner of Canal and Broad). Blue Dot Donuts has agreed to donate donuts for those coming out to donate tomorrow.

Also, if officers feel that they would like to donate today or if they will not be able to make it to the drive tomorrow, I have attached a copy of all of our donor centers. Both the Metairie Donor Center and WestBank Donor Center are open until 8 pm tonight. Also attached is a copy of our deferral guidelines.

If you have any questions or need further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

  1. please extend a big thank you to Betsy’s Pancake House, located across Canal St. from the Blood Center. They were offering free breakfast and lunch for police officers on Friday during the blood drive. Those people always come through for NOPD.
